Lazy Red Cheeks were an Alternative Rock 5-piece from Sint-Truiden (Belgium) active from 2012 until 2020 †
Blending their influences in a manner that defied stereotypical classification set them apart from their contemporaries
On March 13th 2020, Lazy Red Cheeks released their 3rd & final record called 'Act III: Manufacturing Consent’ for which the band recruited Mark Michalik (The Swellers, ... ) from Chicago, USA.
Comprised of vocalist Ruben Delanghe, bassist Wouter Put, drummer Willem Vennekens, guitarists Rob Vandenborne and Maarten Vekemans, each came to Lazy Red Cheeks from a different background in the contemporary alternative music. Their debut album ‘All Systems Go …’ (2017) was such a dynamic and accomplished record produced by Alessio Di Turi (The Sore Losers) which made it clear that the whole was very much more than the sum of its parts.
A substantial touring campaign followed, sharing stages with the likes of The Van Jets, Rival Sons, Zornik, The Sore Losers, Black Box Revelation, Equal Idiots, DeWolff and Iggy Pop establishing them as both a distinct musical entity and formidable live act across the whole of Europe.
At of the end debut album touring cycle, the band headed directly into the studio to record the follow-up: ‘GLOOM’ (2018) for which they recruited GRAMMY-award winning producer Mario Borgatta (Muse, Weezer, Biffy Clyro, …) from Los Angeles, USA and mastering guru Alan Douches (Thrice, A Day To Remember, Motörhead) from New York, USA.
