In 1962, five school friends formed the Specialtones (later Les Classels) in Montreal; Michel Caron, Jean-Clement Drouin, Serge Drouin, Gilles Gerard and Pierre Therrien dyed their hair white, wore white clothes and played white instruments to distinguish themselves. After the 1964 single "Avant de Me Dire Adieu" hit number one in Quebec, the quintet soon became local stars, but their popularity never extended outside of French Canada. ~ John Bush, Rovi
