Brothers Gideon (Big Oak) and Nick (Nick Fury) Black made their mark on L.A.’s underground with razor-sharp wordplay and irreverent wit. Their debut It’s the L! (2001) spawned the underground smash “Nikehead” (heavily profiled "The Ultimate Sneaker Book", a legendary Taschen coffee table anthology) and established them as standouts in the city’s thriving indie hip-hop scene. Their 2003 follow-up Youth Is Yours - featuring the cult hit “Rock to the Rhythm" which was immortalized in Harold & Kumar Go to White Castle - cemented Lexicon as one of the defining voices of early-2000s hip-hop. After evolving into a live band and signing with Paris-based Laitdbac Records, the duo dropped Rapstars (2010), a bold, genre-bending album whose breakout single “Junk Food” became an unexpected anthem across France and Europe.
