Melbourne multi-instrumentalist Liam de Bruin has won the affection of like-minded locals <a href="spotify:artist:1b94FVTCNMq9gU78ByW6iY" data-name="Close Counters">Close Counters</a>, <a href="spotify:artist:2J1cLnr7Zips2B4hfMxdqk" data-name="Horatio Luna">Horatio Luna</a> and <a href="spotify:artist:5rS3QIZCVJiqURLRhc0KW5" data-name="TEYMORI">TEYMORI</a> as well as global tastemakers <a href="spotify:artist:4mHngi71hWNKTRuyl3W9FY" data-name="Osunlade">Osunlade</a>, <a href="spotify:artist:2pfHsO54AOejDlJqtXnS85" data-name="Jimpster">Jimpster</a>, <a href="spotify:artist:5N6EzjkOoyABhNZJggeXi6" data-name="Mousse T.">Mousse T.</a>, <a href="spotify:artist:0XfQBWgzisaS9ltDV9bXAS" data-name="Honey Dijon">Honey Dijon</a>, <a href="spotify:artist:4TSLRQcJGybQuNA8ybueEy" data-name="Art of Tones">Art of Tones</a>, <a href="spotify:artist:6E7SbenCPEit9gDFnMlDUA" data-name="The Reflex">The Reflex</a>, <a href="spotify:artist:58TCXxlvoKiZrNowJsfGKP" data-name="Delfonic">Delfonic</a>, <a href="spotify:artist:0nTErwSOllrcUWt3knOG2T" data-name="Jazzanova">Jazzanova</a>, <a href="spotify:artist:5ZpsIb1MwTyfMmRH3Ma0KG" data-name="Red Rack'Em">Red Rack'Em</a>, <a href="spotify:artist:58wYqnj4rGZ0EMyEEn7kVI" data-name="Smoove">Smoove</a>, <a href="spotify:artist:7HbRQEEsvAKurr1v8YjwzZ" data-name="Carista">Carista</a>, <a href="spotify:artist:3TMLgJUsDIxI4CShGh8vYM" data-name="Jazztronik">Jazztronik</a>, Peacefrog, KCRW, Bandcamp Weekly, NTS, BBC 6Music, Trax Mag and more.
'Thinking About Dancing' is Liam's debut EP, with six tracks of soulful deep house and grooves, including a club-ready remix from <a href="spotify:artist:2qDY4ib71XUC2Lo87r6HdM" data-name="Zeitgeist Freedom Energy Exchange">Zeitgeist Freedom Energy Exchange</a> that ups the tempo and adds drops of acid and touches of percussion.
This project was conceived during Melbourne's extended lockdowns when Liam found himself separated from his band projects (he has played with <a href="spotify:artist:7d35U5u1gkrwQEllYy3II5" data-name="Ausecuma Beats">Ausecuma Beats</a>, <a href="spotify:artist:2dNnJIEECfh07bv1jwmfTL" data-name="Emma Volard">Emma Volard</a> and <a href="spotify:artist:6viWvP8YChO4DcOi1BpNvT" data-name="The Belair Lip Bombs">The Belair Lip Bombs</a>). Liam had lots of time to spend in his garage studio in the beachside suburb Frankston, which has a surprising deep history with dance music (Carl Cox, Sleep D/Butter Sessions, 21st Century Dance Club, Andy Van). There Liam recorded himself playing drums, bass, keyboards, guitar and percussion and then shaping those recordings into understated but funky organic grooves, full of hooks, twists and variations.
This is house made with a love of club and DJ culture, but from the perspective of a musician.
