Lidia Grychtołówna

Lidia Grychtołówna is a famous Polish classical pianist (born 1928 in Rybnik), winner of the 7th award at V Frédéric Chopin International Piano Competition in Warsaw (1955), and then for 30 years a juror of this Competition, as well as of the the Chopin Piano Competition of the US Chopin Foundation (in 1990). For 21 years she has been a piano masterclass professor at the Gutenberg-Universität Mainz (Germany). Grychtołówna has played concerts and solo recitals on almost every continent and still continues her concert activities. Lidia Grychtołówna has worked with conductors such as: Constantin Silvestri, William Steinberg, Wolfgang Sawallisch, Roberto Benzi, Hiroyuki Iwaki, Kurt Sanderling, Kurt Mazur, Günther Herbig, Carlos Spierer, Stanisław Skrowaczewski, Stanisław Wisłocki, Kazimier Kord, Jerzy Salwarowski, Witold Rowicki, Antoni Wit, Andrey Boreyko, Wojciech Rajski and many others. She has recorded for such labels as Muza, Deutsche Grammophon, Philips and recently Art and Progress.
In April 2020 a series "Lidia Grychtołówna Live from Home" was started streamed live from Grychtolówna's Warsaw apartment, it is continued since then and can be found on YouTube.
The most recent album "Lidia Grychtołówna Plays in 2022: Polish Composers", recorded in July 2022 at the Polish Radio W. Lutosławski Recording Studio in Warsaw was premiered in December 2022 as a CD and vinyl release from Art and Progress, a Warsaw based non-profit foundation and a record label.
