Lil Lumie is possibly the archetypal trap pop artist of the new age, embodying the ethereal style + spirit of a born poet. Breaking out in 2021 with her single “Hopes Up,” Lumie initially appeared to be the heir to the legacy of Lil Peep, due in part to her saddened lyrics. With Jake Levant production, her debut album “Fairy Gang” (only available on Bandcamp) emphasized her intro to trap pop, but Lumie quickly incorporated R&B and hip-hop into her music. Her first album was followed by the stand-alone single “Welcome to The Party,” an emo ballad on saving herself. The melodic hit was shortly followed by “Awakening,” “Magic,” and “Need Ya,” three singles off of her upcoming album, “Magic EP Vol 1.”
A native of Marin County, California, where she was born in 1994, Lumie began singing, dancing and writing songs at a young age, appearing in local productions. In 2007, when she was 14, she began playing the guitar and piano. As she kept herself busy with school, Lumie began to pursue a musical career. She made her first musical appearances in a group called QynQyo, in 2016. In 2018, Lumie moved to New York to study production and recorded three albums, in which she found her style and became comfortable as an artist.
At the end of 2022, she released her hit single “Need Ya,” which was preceeded by “Nanana,” the final single before the release of “Magic” the EP (released on January 21st), and, followed by the “Magic (Deluxe)” on January 22nd, with two additional songs.
