Lisa Maps is a songwriter with heart – and a penchant for drama. A true storyteller, her songs are distinguished by her thoughtful and honest lyrics and characteristic theatrical delivery. Her music is tactile, intimate and grounded in folk – but with a twist.
Lisa is based in Logan and regularly charms audiences throughout Southeast Queensland with her vocal prowess and trademark banter. Her performance credits include opening for cabaret smash The IsoLate Late Show at the Logan Entertainment Centre and appearances at Eats and Beats and Buskers by the Lake. Lisa also performs with renowned fiddle player Melinda Coles in her duo Sweetly Strung. A talented multi-instrumentalist, she has also performed as a cellist and vocalist with bluegrass fusion band Scarlett Road.
Lisa’s songwriting focus has recently shifted towards more serious topics, and her upcoming sophomore EP explores the guilt and anxiety of a generation facing the impacts of climate change. The first single from the EP, Thoughts and Prayers, was named 2XXFM track of the week in January 2020, and received radio airplay throughout the country including on Melbourne’s Triple R. The subsequent single Black Summer was praised as a ‘powerful track’ (Tom Forrest, Triple J) that demonstrated ‘lyrical heft and unassailable flair’ (BMA Magazine).
Lisa is also currently working with JMC Academy on the production of an upcoming single and video after winning their sponsored prize during Logan Live Music Month in 2020.
