Lonely Deckchair is the sound of memory, place and music coming full circle: sun-soaked, melancholic soundscapes shaped by childhood holidays, family life and a lifelong pull towards the strange and beautiful.
The project began with a formative memory on a beach in Aguadulce, southern Spain, listening to his dad’s ’60s compilations through shared headphones with his brother while waves, birdsong and beach life drifted around him. That early collision of music and atmosphere became the foundation for a creative journey that moved through teenage obsessions with The Jesus and Mary Chain, Spacemen 3 and My Bloody Valentine, a cult EP with psych-indie band Lovelust, and later a deep connection to Ibiza, A Love From Outer Space and trippy dancefloors.
Years of lo-fi home recordings, made between family life and late-night cellar sessions, eventually found their form under the name Lonely Deckchair. Returning to Aguadulce with his own family reignited those memories, inspiring a collection of Super-8-style footage, field recordings and musical sketches rooted in nostalgia and the passing of time.
Released via NuNorthern Soul, Lonely Deckchair’s debut album blends backwards guitars, soft-focus electronics, exotic rhythms, dusty drum machines and hallucinatory seaside textures into a widescreen Balearic world: reflective, cinematic and quietly euphoric.
