Looptok is renowned for his unique style of composing for theatre, circus and film. The instruments he uses stem from all over the world and are tailored to the ideas and shapes of each project. Soundscapes are created using material to suits the theme of each specific show.
For the theme of borders and migration, for example, sounds have been created with litter and objects from beaches, underwater sounds and by using the Öresund Bridge as an acoustic space. In another example, where knitting is explored as a means of investigating the aspirations of humanity, yarn has been used to create strings in various forms.
These sounds are then combined with acoustic instruments, electronic soundscapes and own instrument creations such as drum drone and cello dobro.
Amongst Samuel’s most well known commissions are Knitting Peace and Limits for Circus Cirkör, which have toured throughout the world for many years, and in which Samuel himself features as live musician on stage.
