In 1995, the now legendary record store Wild Mind held a fundraising concert at the Tutankhanum club in Oslo. The concert was going to help them to continue selling records to friends and acquaintances. But it didn’t turn out like that, and soon Wild Mind was unfortunately closed. Los Plantronics played live for the first time at that concert, along with Gluecifer and others.
This is now 22 years ago, and for the first time Los Plantronics songs will be collected on a «best of» album. No less than 100 (!) musicians from Oslo’s over and underground have played with the band since that night at Tutankhanum, and many of them are heard on the thirty songs on «The Worst Is Yet To Come - Best of 1995 - 2017», which consists of 20 self-composed gems and 10 exquisite cover songs.
Mariachi Death Surf. There might not be many that operate within that genre, but you’ll have to search long for a more concise description of a band’s music.
Los Plantronics is a party in many ways, on both musical and esthetic terms. They have perfected their surf and mariachi rock since their inception in 1995, and no one in this country, or abroad, can claim they’re doing it better. It’s rockabilly, surf, spaghetti westerns, soundtrack music, garage rock, mariachi, latin soul, boogaloo, world music and exotica, all in a lovely mess. Visually, it’s hard to avoid noticing their custom-made outfits, their stylish suits and, not least, their mexican wrestling masks.
