An evocative indie rock outfit from Portland, Oregon founded by songwriter, forester Matt Sheehy, Lost Lander crafts structured, melody-driven indie pop with an emphasis on the bucolic. Steeped in the lush and overcast patina of the Pacific Northwest, Lost Lander's 2011 debut album, DRRT, which focused on the junction of nature and technology, featured production work from Menomena's Brent Knopf. As much a collaborator as a producer, Knopf's idiosyncratic production style complemented Matt Sheehy's pastoral and often enigmatic songs. Sarah Fennell (keyboards), Patrick Hughes (drums), and William Seiji Marsh (bass) joined the group and Knopf sat in the production chair for the band's second long-player, 2015's electro-tinged and heartfelt Medallion, which shifted its focus to the heady subjects of love, loss, life, and death. The band's most recent effort, Aberdeen, is a collection of Matt's songs written almost 10 years ago during an isolated period he spent living in that small Washington logging village. His neighbors - an eccentric couple named Flood and Casey - make frequent appearances along side contemplations on the value of family and the decision of whether or not to have children.
