Blending aggressive guitar layers with melodic psychedelia and concise, pop-structured songwriting, Baton Rouge's Loudness War has continuously explored the fuzziest realms of garage rock.
Beginning in 2014 as a secret project of eventual guitarists Stevie Spring and Matthew Urquhart, the pair self recorded their debut Garbage Rock in one week, enlisting drummer Ryan Welsh halfway through the recording process, with bassist Quinn Tull joining shortly afterward. The CD-R caught the ear of local record shop Lagniappe Records, who then put out 2015's Extraterrestrial Hangover on a limited run cassette.
Through a happenstance meeting, the band linked up with Transylvania Music Company to record the sludgy The Miser at Louisiana's iconic Studio in the Country (Kansas, Stevie Wonder, Marilyn Manson). This was followed by self-recorded releases Warm Fizz and Mystifier Deluxe, which furthered the band's songwriting into more complex and cerebral territory.
