Luca Wetherall is a bass, jazz pianist, and guitarist. His debut release, The Blue Bird, recently premiered on BBC Radio 3.
Luca began his singing career as a choral scholar at Liverpool Cathedral under the direction of Lee Ward, followed by a degree in Music at the University of Oxford alongside a choral scholarship. Luca has sung countertenor with many choirs including the Schola Cantorum of Oxford, Merton College Oxford, Mosaic Voices, and the Liverpool Philharmonic Chamber Choir under Vasily Petrenko. Luca was a featured young artist in the Bitesize Proms concert series and has appeared as a soloist with the Instruments of Time of Truth and the Orchestra of St. John’s. Recent solo appearances include a recital at Liverpool Cathedral and a performance of Baroque works by Handel and Purcell at the Victoria Gallery.
He is an experienced soloist and ensemble singer as well as being an active composer and arranger. His most recent choral work has been performed in workshops by the BBC Singers. Luca also works as a jazz pianist and a vocalist for a professional big band. Luca has experience as a musical director, a choral conductor and arranger, and as a session vocalist and keyboard player. He enjoys practicing audio and video production, creating music videos for YouTube, Instagram and TikTok which have amassed over 50,000 followers and 20 million views. Luca’s videos have been featured by both Classic FM and composer Eric Whitacre.
