Lucca Kosta is a Brazilian-born alternative music artist. Her sounds go from electronic melancholia with piano undertones to MPB (Brazilian pop) and even gothic-rock melodies. Her lyrics are very personal, notably for the displays of grief and trauma. She has used some of her song videos to protest against the pollution of the oceans. Her voice is a soft mezzo-soprano with a few daring high-pitched notes. Her lyrics are mostly in Portuguese and some in English. She debuted as a singer on MTV Brazil in 2006.

Born in Curitiba, Brazil, to Italian and Portuguese parents (she also has Polish and British ancestry), she started singing in bands around the age of 18. Sometimes also playing the piano or the guitar, she formed a few bands until deciding to record her songs solo. Her first EP was released in 2006 with the support of MTV Brazil, which broadcast her music videos and added her EP to its magazine.

Although Lucca recorded most of her studio songs in Portuguese, many have English versions that she performs live. She also sings versions of classic pop and rock songs (or “covers”), playing the piano for her unique signature.

Her influences go from female vocalists like Irish singer Sinéad O’Connor and Brazilian Rita Lee to bands like Nightwish, Faith No More, and Pearl Jam. Due to her use of the piano and improvisations in her live performances, the Brazilian music press compared Lucca to the singer and pianist Tori Amos.
