Luisa Briguglio is a multidisciplinary artist from Messina, Sicily, whose work weaves together music, theater, and literature in a deeply personal and eclectic journey.
Trained in dance and theater and holding a degree in Modern Literature, she has explored a rich array of musical traditions—from southern Italian folk to Latin American and Cape Verdean influences. Since 2017, she has been the lead vocalist of PopulAlma, releasing two albums (Cantu Forti and Spaccaventu) that reflect her commitment to storytelling through music.
Her artistic path extends to the stage, where she has worked as an actress and assistant director on original productions like Percée and Cantu e cuntu. In 2023, she joined El colectivo and became the voice of ‘Ngasa ‘Ngasa, recording the single Safari. That same year, she was awarded the Ethnos Generazioni Prize in Naples.
Luisa’s solo project marks a return to her roots, embracing her Sicilian heritage through songwriting in dialect. Her music delves into the tension between tradition and innovation, exploring themes of departure, distance, and the unbreakable dialogue with a land that is both blessing and burden.
Sung in dialect—the language of emotion and ancestral memory—her songs echo the voices of migrants, songwriters, and poets. While they draw from folk music, her sound evokes a different Sicily: urban, cross-cultural, mystical, and solitary. It is a living, breathing expression of identity, history, and transformation.
