Madd Anju

b. Lucien Dixon, Kingston, Jamaica, West Indies. Dixon was educated in the Jamaican capital where he attended the St. Peter Claver Primary School and Wolmer Boys School. The DJ first came to prominence in 1996 when he joined Main Street Crew who released ‘Freezer’, a cut that utilised the rhythm to Goofy’s ground-breaking hit ‘Fudgie’. In 1999, Goofy was instrumental in furthering Dixon’s career when, through his own Young Blood production company, he produced the aspiring DJ’s breakthrough hit, ‘Wha Dis Fadda’. He also joined General Degree for the release of ‘Rudeness’ which featured on the b-side of Degree’s Top 40 hit, ‘Signal’. At this time the DJ recorded as Mad Andrew, a name which was said to acknowledge his manic behaviour, although subsequent releases gradually introduced the spelling change. As Madd Anjuu the DJ joined Red Rat’s ‘Brat’ Production company with whom he recorded a series of hits including the uproarious, ‘Mi No Play Chess’ and ‘How Is It’. In the spring of the new millennium the DJ toured the USA which included a critically acclaimed performance at the New England Music Splash with artists such as Mr. Vegas, Beenie Man and Tanto Metro And Devonte. He was proclaimed as ‘Jamaica’s next big thing’ and he enhanced his notoriety with his risqué performances particularly on a headline grabbing show in New York. He maintained a high profile on vinyl with a series of releases including, ‘Star Face’, ‘My Youth’, ‘Shots Shots’, ‘Club Claw’ and the ‘Virus Juggling Megamix’.
