She’s stomping out of a black and white photo wearing rubber boots
Steps over the fences that keeps the horses out
She looks back for a moment
To see if you’re still there
She wants to be strong, she wants to be big, but to not be alone
There are caring ghosts around her
See-through, bygones remaining in history
And from an open window at the other side of the field
A radio softly plays
That's where dreamy strings whisper through the warm thick air
That's where a woman’s voice sings languid and slow
That she'll care for you
But never will be yours
Music sounding like lengthy letters
Crammed written sheets stuffed in thick envelopes
Mottled, crumpled, and full of lost words
She'll read her life to you.
