From the vibrant streets of Canarsie, Brooklyn to the prestigious halls of Howard University, Makaela's musical journey is deeply rooted in rich cultural heritage and natural talent. Her musical foundation was laid in Trinidad, where she spent three formative years with her grandparents. It was there that her grandfather, known for his remarkable voice and morning ritual of whistling while exercising, unknowingly planted the seeds of her musical destiny. This musical legacy runs deep – her mother was a celebrated performer throughout Trinidad, whose reputation still resonates across the island today.

Since debuting with "First Impression" in December 2018, Makaela has released an EP, "Me and Somebody's Son" and multiple singles that showcases her expansive vocal range and artistic versatility. Her sound pays homage to her Trinidad roots while embracing contemporary R&B influences, creating a unique fusion that's distinctly her own.
