Makoto Kubota is a Japanese musician, singer, sound engineer, and producer, who began playing his trade in a band called “Les Rallizes Dénudés”in 70’s. He started recording his 1st solo album, the folk- tinged, "Machibouke" in 1973. He also played with bands like “Makoto Kubota & The Sunset Gang” in 70s and “Sandii & The Sunsetz" in 80s, opening the bill for Eric Clapton, Levon Helm, Japan,Talking Heads and the Eurythmics. Kubota produced various artists like Shokichi Kina, Dick Lee and Elvie Sukaesih, to name but a few. He also produced a million-seller track named “Kopi DangDut” in Indonesia. Teaming up with Haruomi Hosono in '99, together they recorded an album called "HARRY & MAC". He teamed up with Malaysia’s Mac Chew and Jenny Chin and recorded the series of albums under “Blue Asia”. He has compiled several notable albums including music from Brazil’s Nordeste, Miyakojima and other Japanese traditional/folk music. As well as concert planning; and music programming for radio programs. He co-produced the documentary film called "Sketches of Myahk", which received a formal invitation to the Locarno International Film Festival. Kubota also produced the soundtrack for the Katsunori Otomo's recent animation film called "Hi no Yojin".
