What started as a chance encounter in a Colombian club became the spark for one of Australia's most exciting Latin music acts. Malo Malo, founded by Australian musician Danny G Felix, debuted in Sydney with a fierce tribute to classic gangster salsa—drawing inspiration from the likes of Hector Lavoe, Willie Colón, Eddie Palmieri, and Ray Pérez.
Since then, they've evolved into a powerhouse live act, blending Afro-Cuban rhythms (Mambo, Rumba, Guaguancó, Mozambique) with jazz and R&B influences to create a sound that's both rooted and revolutionary.
With two albums and two EPs, Malo Malo has performed internationally—from La Topa Tolondra in Cali to Kiebracanto in Bogotá—and shared stages with salsa legends like El Gran Combo de Puerto Rico. Their collaborations include Orquesta Calibre, Tumbao Social, Diego Galindo, and members of Grupo Niche.
