Man Made Origin were formed in Dundee, Scotland in 2008 and have honed a distinctive sound which pulls together innovative progressive, rock and extreme metal influences into a straight-up accessible and hook-laden mixture, which oozes with nuance under the surface.
Releasing ‘Maritime’, the band fully realises this evolution and offers a taste of the new record to come. Lovers of the concept album, the new material is set during the height of European colonial expansion and how imagination, adventure and ambition sit uneasily with greed, cruelty and exploitation.
Maritime builds on a diverse back catalogue, ranging from the emotional and atmospheric ‘The Divine Soulless’ (2016) and its immersive progressive epics like Antioch, to the stripped back prog-infused black/death metal record that started it all, State of Nature (2009).
