MANTICORA formed in 1997 with Lars F. Larsen (vocals), Kristian Larsen (guitars), and Mads Volf (drums). The young guys laying the foundation of the MANTICORA-trademark sound; hard hitting progressive power metal with both epic and thrash elements..
In 1998, they signed with Intromental Management and Black Lotus, releasing "Roots Of Eternity" in 1999. In 2000, Scarlet Records brought "Darkness With Tales To Tell."
"Hyperion" in 2002 and "8 Deadly Sins" in 2004 marked significant releases. In 2006, they started "The Black Circus" and toured with Jon Oliva’s Pain and Circle II Circle in 2009.
Their 2010 album "Safe" and a European tour followed. In 2012, they played at Wacken Open Air, inspiring new material. In 2013, Stefan Johansson replaced guitarist Martin.
After a 2014 European tour, drummer Mads left. MANTICORA spent 4 years on a double concept album.
In August 2018, they released their 8th album, "To Kill To Live To Kill," along with a 334-page horror novel. 2018 and 2019 included worldwide touring, with first-time appearances in Canada, Japan, Mexico, and Norway, playing festivals like Wacken Open Air, Copenhell, and Evoken Fest in Japan.
With a year of writing, finetuning and concept-developing, the band recorded and mixed their 10th album (mastered by Jacob Hansen) and signed a record deal with the Danish label Mighty Music about the release. With stunning artwork, created with A.lien I.nfluences, the band once again delivers a sublime product for their fans.
