Manuel Antunes, known artistically as mantū, is a finalist of The Voice Portugal 2023 and the last standing member of Sónia Tavares’ team. Blending indie pop and pop with a melancholic and poetic soul, his music thrives on minimalism and raw emotion, capturing fleeting moments and quiet revelations. Now stepping into his debut EP, he unveils the journey with “deixa de ser criança”.
“deixa de ser criança” reflects the blurring of childhood memories, lost amid the pains of growing up. It intensifies the presence of an anguished adult self, consumed by the desire to revive the happiness of their childhood self, fully aware of its impossibility. However, it carries a message of hope: although we cannot return to being and feeling exactly what we once were in a distant reality, our inner child will always remain within us. We can always find it as a way to reach happiness in the adult version of ourselves. This marks the beginning of mantū’s journey, with his first single in Portuguese.
