Kompozytor, multiinstrumentalista, jeden z prekursorów muzyki elektronicznej w Polsce. Jest absolwentem Akademii Muzycznej w Poznaniu. Popularność solową na rodzimym rynku muzycznym zdobył bestsellerowym albumem „Ogród Króla Świtu” oraz wideoklipem „Ucieczka z Tropiku”, który przez telewidzów uznany został za najlepszy klip 1984 roku. W tym czasie miał już na swoim koncie kolejną „złotą płytę” oraz szereg koncertów w kraju i za granicą (koncertował m.in. w Berlinie, Hamburgu, Bremie, Pradze, Moskwie i Kuwejcie), zaś w plebiscytach na najpopularniejszego instrumentalistę przez pięć kolejnych lat (1981–1985) zajmował pierwsze miejsce.
