From Manila to Southern California, Marga Jayy carries soul in her voice and fire in her pen. Her music—sung in English and Tagalog—moves through genre and emotion with ease, shaped by her journey as a woman, a mother, and an ever-evolving artist devoted to authenticity.
In May 2024, she released 100 Mensahe with Filipino veteran nu-jazz producer Dan Gil. The track, along with their earlier collaboration Makina, has earned recognition from the Awit Awards, the Philippines’ premier music honors. Other notable releases include the Daydreaming EP and Patay-Sindi, a collaboration with jazz-funk collective Extrapolation.
Performing professionally since the age of 11, Marga’s songwriting took root after being selected for Elements, a prestigious national camp where she was mentored by icons of Filipino music. She later trained at Berklee’s summer program, and further developed her craft through intensives with acclaimed jazz vocalist Gretchen Parlato, powerhouse soul singer STOUT, and Grammy-winning songwriter-producer Muni Long. Alongside her solo work, she built a career as a background vocalist and session singer across a wide range of genres and artists.
Highlights of her journey include sharing the stage with influential figures in funk, jazz, and reggae: Cory Henry, Jesus Molina, and Mike Love, respectively, at the Malasimbo Music Festival and performing her songs with the Manila Symphony Orchestra in Rockestra: New Blood.
