Jazz Pianist and Bösendorfer Artist Marialy Pacheco is the only female pianist among Cuba’s renowned jazz greats such as Roberto Fonseca, Omar Sosa, and Gonzalo Rubalcaba. Winner of the 2012 Montreux Solo Piano Competition, she was the first woman in the award’s 15-year history to receive this honor.
Whether performing jazz with a large orchestra, in intimate duos, or interpreting Bach’s G minor Piano Concerto, Pacheco’s playing is rhythmic, virtuosic, and full of emotion.
Based in Germany, she has performed at leading festivals and venues worldwide, including Montreux Jazz Festival, Jazzbaltica, St. Moritz Art Masters, Piano City Milano, Rheingau Musik Festival, Birdland New York, Ronnie Scott’s London, and major European philharmonics.
Marialy has released 13 Albums, the most significant been:
”DUETS" (2017), an intimate and multifaceted album feat. Hamilton de Holanda, Omar Sosa, Joo Kraus, Rhani Krija, Miguel Zenon and Max Mutzke. "Danzón Cubano" (2019). A live recording with her Trio and the WDR Radio Orchestra, conducted by Gordon Hamilton, “MANOS" (April 2022), a live duo album with Cuban pianist Omar Sosa,“RELOAD" (October 2022), a trio album celebrating the music and culture of Cuba and Latin America featuring Avishai Cohen, Nils Wülker, Karl Perazzo and Rhani Krija. Most recently, she has interpreted Johann Sebastian Bach’s Piano Concerto in G Minor (2025), accompanied by the Württemberg Chamber Orchestra Heilbronn under the baton of Gordon Hamilton.
