Belgian pianist Marie François has performed across Europe and the USA, with highlights including the Concertgebouw Amsterdam, Romanian Athenaeum, Queen Elisabeth Hall Antwerp, and festivals such as B-Classic (Belgium), Piano Festival (Miami), Schiermonnikoog (Netherlands), and Aurora (Sweden). She played Shostakovich’s First Piano Concerto with Dirk Brossé in De Bijloke (Ghent), performed with Herman Engels, gave a recital during the 2024 Piano Days in Flagey, and appeared at the 2024 Martha Argerich Festival in Hamburg with violinist Geza Hosszu Legocky. Her debut album Eclectic/Being me (Challenge Records, 2019) was listed among Apple Music’s global top 10 classical releases. She followed up with the EP Memories of Tomorrow (2021) and the four-hands album Amitié musicale à quatre-mains with French pianist Simon Adda-Reyss (2024). François began piano at four, studying with Anne Camps. She completed her Bachelor with Joop Celis (Maastricht), Master with Alan Weiss (Belgium), and postgraduate with Polina Leschenko, later studying with Elisso Virsaladze in Fiesole. She attended masterclasses with Leonskaja, Melnikov, Zilberstein, and others, and spent four summers at the Accademia Chigiana in Siena. In 2023, she spent a month in Warsaw studying Chopin’s Nocturnes, documented in an award-winning podcast. The full Nocturnes will be released on CD in May 2025. François is the first Classical Yamaha Artist in the Benelux.
