Mariel Barreña

MARIEL BARREÑA: Singer, pianist and composer, born in La Plata, Argentina. Currently working on her new project "Mariel solo set" (multi - instrumentalist: Voice, piano, accordion, loopera, guitars, percussion etc, addressing a repertoire of her own songs and the popular Argentine songbook. Mariel's formal training came in Argentina, studying classical, jazz and popular piano, styles she has woven into her own unique approach to voice and piano. From a young age Mariel has shared recording studios and performances with luminaries from Andrés Beeuwsaert, André Marques, Juan Carlos "Montana" Fontana (Spinetta) Quique Roca, Adrian Martinez,”Tato” Finocchi, Mariano “tiki” Cantero (Aca Seca trio) and many more. She play, record and participate in different projects of renowned artists touring the most important stages and festivals of Asia Japan, Corea, Brasil etc. “Viva. Destino del Canto” Best album 2019 Latina Magazine Japan, This includes the participation of Omar Gomez on bass, Pablo Vignati on drummer legüero and drums, Gabriel Larraz and Nehuen Ercoli on guitars, Ignacio Alvarez on percussion and various guest artists. Mariel recreates a repertoire of current Argentine music under the influence and the search for her own voice. The disc counts on own compositions and versions of significant music of the Argentine popular songbook. All arrangements and musical ideas are their own.
