Born in a small town outside Boston, Massachusetts, singer-songwriter Marissa Kay grew up with a deep love for music. Her music echoes the classic folk, rock, and country she listened to on her mother's cassette player as a child, while also bringing in new sounds and the unique perspective from living as an openly transgender woman.
A lifelong traveler, Marissa has lived and performed across the United States before finding her home in San Francisco. One of her proudest achievements was performing at the 2015 Pride Festival in St. Petersburg, Florida.
Today, Marissa performs both solo and with her band, The Lunar Angels. She is recording her first solo release, entitled Trans Is Love. In a time full of uncertainty and political turmoil, she hopes her music can be a guiding light for members of the LGBT community, allies, and anyone willing to listen to her story.
