Mark and the Tiger is an indie rock band created and fronted by singer-songwriter Mark Haberland. Defined by story-driven lyrics and Haberland’s massive vocals, Mark and the Tiger is a sonic tour de force. At its core, Mark and the Tiger is something wholly unique—deeply queer, wildly expressive, and unapologetically itself.
Based between Los Angeles, USA, and Newcastle, England, Mark and the Tiger embodies a life split between two worlds. Originally from Maine, Haberland met his Newcastle-born husband in Los Angeles in 2015, just as his music career was beginning. Since then, the two have spent their lives between the US and the UK, with Mark and the Tiger performing at iconic Los Angeles venues such as the legendary Whisky A Go Go and The Viper Room, as well as stages across the UK.
Mark and the Tiger’s debut album, Little Adventures (2020), explored his eclectic influences, from hypnotic indie rock to soaring ballads. By 2022, he had fully found his voice with The Hero’s Journey, a cinematic concept album weaving myth, spirituality, and queer storytelling.
Now, in 2025, Mark and the Tiger embarks on a new sonic adventure, blending Bulgarian choirs, Corsican polyphony, and cinematic percussion. The upcoming single, River, was written for the wedding of his best friend and her wife—a celebration of love, queer joy, and authenticity.
