Mark Darker

Mark Darker, born Mark Malmut is an American composer, guitarist, singer, and producer from New York City. Currently making his home in Lake Worth, FL, and plying his trade as the king of dark, edgy, indie music, you can expect a style of music that is fresh and introspective.


His unique brand of music, heavily reliant on blending expertly crafted lyrics with exquisite melodies and other worldly harmonies, is a testament to his varied influences. Rather than use tired, cliché driven rock principals, Mark Darker summons harmonic concepts from a number of different genres. Darker’s Music is a tapestry of cinematic sounds drawn from a variety of musical footprints.


His approach to writing is to never, ever, write a song the same way twice. This intensely challenging way of composing guarantees great diversity, and ensures that each song is markedly different, and each tells a story from an unexpected angle. At the end of the day it's always about the song, and these songs are fulfilling melodically, harmonically, rhythmically and spiritually.


From his days as front man
and architect of New York City based Broken Silence, he has developed a strong following, having played multiple times at NYC’s The Bitter End and other notable clubs on the East Coast including Dive DC, Dada in Delray Beach and The Lizard Lounge in Boston.
