San Antonio’s own Mark Monaco and the Strayhearts deliver a unique blend of styles mixing Latin rock, country and pop into a lush, high-octane sound that resonates with authentic music lovers.
A cross between The Mavericks and Rob Thomas, the band pulls from a vast array of musical influences like Elton John, John Mellencamp, Tom Petty, Texas Tornados and Roy Orbison.
In 2022, they released the single, Superstar, which was recorded at the iconic American Recording Studio in Memphis TN. The music video was filmed in Las Vegas at Binion’s Casino on Fremont Street and shines a light on Down Syndrome by featuring a local Vegas DS hero, Clayton Rhodes, as the star.
March 31, 2023 will see the release of their latest single, Ring of Fire, featuring the legendary Francine Reed (Lyle Lovett). The track, which is a dark and somber take on the Johnny Cash classic, was recorded during the pandemic by Monaco in one session (unbeknownst to him at the time) on what turned out to be the anniversary of the passing of June Carter Cash, who penned Ring of Fire. The song showcases Monaco on piano, as well as a gospel choir recorded remotely in Spain during lockdown.
Mark Monaco and the Strayhearts will be performing a series of exclusive concerts in select cities throughout the US in the summer and fall of 2023.
