Born and raised in Houston, Texas, Marley Moon creates a unique blend of vintage sounds, indie pop, indie rock, and singer-songwriter — infused with a deep sense of nostalgia. Her influences range from The Beach Boys to Unknown Mortal Orchestra, to Taylor Swift and The Flaming Lips.
Growing up, music was always a driving force in Marley Moon's life. From her first guitar lessons inspired by Taylor Swift, to her love for choir, music was a way for her to connect with others. After a setback in her dream to attend Berklee College of Music, she chose to take a year off to hone her craft in Houston’s vibrant open mic scene. The following year, she got into Berklee, but realized that she had yet to find her musical identity. It was then she began writing her own music and developing her sound. Eventually, she returned home to Houston.
In 2021, Marley Moon released her debut EP, Do You Feel Free?, co-produced with CJ Burton at Steve Christensen’s studio. This was the first of many collaborations with Steve, leading to the release of her debut LP, Everything Is Real! in 2022, co-produced by Matthew Benthall and Kendrick Ballard.
In 2024, a personal injury forced Marley Moon to re-evaluate her relationship with music. Unable to play instruments, she rediscovered her joy for music — vowing that, if she got her ability back, she would approach her work with a lighter, more fun spirit. This led to the creation of her upcoming EP, Worst Summer, slated for release on May 30th, 2025.
