What’s a musician to do when cancer treatments prevent them from playing their instrument? In the case of Marr0w, the next best thing was to make beats. After a life-changing battle with cancer at a young age, he could no longer play guitar due to nerve damage from chemo. “I need music in my life,” he says, “so I figured at that point I’d just make beats and sing over them to fill that void.” Thus, the writing process for his debut LP “Condition” began, along with daily routines that acted as physical therapy for his hands/fingers. Months later, he could once again play guitar, which is prominently heard on the album, something he is proud of. Lyrically, the album deals with the human experience, often describing depression, cancer, and the perspective that comes with facing both simultaneously. “This album was so therapeutic, both mentally and even physically,” he says, “and I’m looking forward to people hearing it.” Marr0w’s debut album “Condition” is out on July 31st, 2020.
