Mars Maasai

Mars Maasai, otherwise known as Mars, is a Kenyan producer and artist. Mars has been involved in several projects over the years, such as Our Guns Don't Work, Sweet and Sawa and @Blue Ticks and Kisses by The Nest Collective and most notably Nairobass by Nairobi based production team Xprso.

Mars is also co-founder and member of Xpresso Records together with friends and frequent collaborators MR. LU*, RVMP and BBYY. Their shared vision is carving a niche in Kenya's rapidly evolving alternative music scene.

A self described "Born Tao", he relies heavily on the energy of his home city of Nairobi to fuel his creations in the studio. Sonically, Mars is most comfortable in a sound that is a unique blend of R&B, dancehall and pillars of Kenya's expressions such as Kapuka and Genge. Heavily influenced by Flex (Calif Records), his goal is to add his unique contribution to Kenyan R&B.
