"When they lock onto a groove the outcome is irresistible" All about jazz
"Dondurma sounds exactly like love to music" Ma'ariv
Marsh Dondurma's first show was a humble street performance at the Jerusalem open market, between the vegetable and spice stalls. Since, the band has grown to have its own luscious, unmistakable sound. In a sizzling pan, these sixteen brass and percussion players stir together middle eastern melodies with New Orleans trombones, Yemenite beats with Balkan riffs; Klezmer wails with booty-shaking funk.
The band recorded seven albums, including a childrens album and book of musical stories and songs, Crocodiles on Your Head. It tours worldwide, and played at international festivals including Montreal Jazz Festival (Canada), Guca Trumpet Festival (Serbia), the International Book Fair in Guadalajara (Mexico), Krakow Jewish Festival (Poland), Red Sea Jazz Festival (Israel), and performed in Croatia, China, Taiwan, Moscow and Greece.
The group also cooperated in concerts and recordings with top Israel artists Beri Saharof, Shlomo Gronich, Shai Zabari, Evyatar Banai and New York klezmer trumpet player Frank London.
