Mary Nelson

Swedish/American jazz vocalist and composer Mary Nelson is an acclaimed singer with her roots in the American jazzstandard repertoaire where she also finds her inspiration for her compositions. Born in Uppsala, Sweden to Swedish mother and American father Mary grew up singing and playing the piano, performing early in church in front of an audience. She moved to Stockholm for education in musical theatre at a School of Perfrming Arts and began singing in different shows. The love of jazz grew on her and she began writing material for her first album "<a href="spotify:album:41s7BcK8TrXcWWKzN4GxBD" data-name="Something old, something new, something borrowed, something blue">Something old, something new, something borrowed, something blue</a>", released in 2011 with Foxling Records. The album contained her own compositions but one, with duets with world famous trumpet player and jazz vocalist Peter Asplund and vocalist Frida Öhrn. Another album with jazzstandards "<a href="spotify:album:0phvQppQ9vZZM5yPg24lsL" data-name="The Meadows of My Heart">The Meadows of My Heart</a>" was released in 2014 with DoMusic Records and an EP "<a href="spotify:album:7yR1Lmkfm3zH2jNrf72inn" data-name="Here to Stay (Music from TV-series "Gåsmamman")">Here to Stay (Music from TV-series "Gåsmamman")</a>" in 2016 with music from Swedish film noir series "Gåsmamman". A project together with Daniel Lantz Trio and DoMusic Records.
