Mashrooms

Mashrooms was born in 1999 in Siracusa, a nice seaside town lying on the southern east coast of Sicily. Their sound was influenced by the beauty and brutality of the land they lived in and, because of this ambiguity, the initial project was struggling to find its own identity. Starting from a rough and raw type of sound, Mashrooms went on to experiment and to produce more personal and introspective sonorities; Since that first “post-rock” opera (Welcome to Spackentown, produced with the artistic supervision of <a href="spotify:artist:1k98AIGp4WNciHn7DNB9a8" data-name="Uzeda">Uzeda</a>’s guitarist Agostino Tilotta and released via Arsonica in 2003), the several shows all over Italy and the growing cohesion among the band members helped the project to constantly grow until Mashrooms was finally able to find its own musical uniqueness. A year later, after touring over Italy and Germany, they moved into the Red House Recordings Studio for their second album The Ginko, recorded by David Lenci, mixed by John Congleton (<a href="spotify:artist:0z8SSepzt4lAxLDiKryVO6" data-name="The Paper Chase">The Paper Chase</a>) and released in 2006 via Zahr Records. Later on, Mashrooms was identified more and more as a “rock-orchestra”, it released two more albums thanks to Wild Love Records first, for s/t in 2011, and Wild Love Records, New Sonic and the French label Pied de Biche for their latest Balena in 2014.
