Born in Miyazaki, Japan.
With a hauntingly beautiful voice and joyful spirit, singer-songwriter Masumi Ako (Japanese name: 阿児 万寿美) is a rare talent who is ready to share her gift with world. Inspired by country and folk, she began her musical career at 22. At her first year of performing, she won the Yamaha Song Contest and she got the audience prize in the SONY V3 competition. When she was 25, she drew praise on an article “Kame no Ongaeshi” of a famous Japanese bassist, producer Seiji Kameda: "A voice that feels like motherhood's comfort, full of warmth that POP music tends to forget." At 29, she got to the final stage of "Sing Sing Sing" (a major Japanese POP contest on channel TBS). In 2019, she was commissioned to provide music for TV Osaka for the program “Chokotto Kyoto ni sundemita”, again in 2020 for “Meikenchiku de Chushoku wo.” Now she sings in the drama “À Table!” in 2023 & 2024 and released all those musics from Shochiku Records. She has lived in the United States, France and has now returned to Japan. After 3 independent albums and multiple singles, she continues her journey to share her music with the world.

宮崎県出身。 高校在学中のアメリカ留学がきっかけで、22歳から本格的な音楽活動を始める。カントリーや フォーク、ブルース、ロック、サーフを好み、海外ライブ経験も多 い。 活動開始すぐ、ヤマハソングコンテスト グランプリ受賞。 同年、SONY主催 V3コンテスト オーディエンス賞受賞。 TBS音楽オーディション番組「Sing!Sing!Sing!」でファイナリストに残る。 2019年12月、テレビ大阪「ちょこっと京都に住んでみた」の挿入歌、翌年2020年テレビ大阪「名建築で昼食を」の挿入歌、2024年BS松竹東急「À Table！〜ノスタルジックな休日」のエンディングソングに抜擢され独特なスタイルと声で、若年層から高年層まで、国内・海外にも幅広いファンがいる。
