Meet prodigious beatmaker, Joe Matheny. Known better by his stage persona ‘Matheny,’ Joe is a budding bass producer from Huntsville, Alabama with a bright path ahead of him.
The Matheny project is the culmination of a lifetime of musical background. Matheny grew up playing piano and trapping hip-hop beats for clients around the south east. In 2016, Matheny started experimenting with electronic bass music, and in late 2017, the Matheny music project was born with the goal of turning the spotlight towards the underground, and creating a community of good, music-loving people.
Matheny mixes dark, experimental bass and heavy, energetic trap seamlessly with his hip-hop/rap influences. His musical prowess and sound design have demanded attention from labels like MADZOO, Wavecraft Collective, Electric Hawk, and more. Matheny has also been supported on Zeds Dead’s Deadbeats Radio with his track “Everybody Know”, off his debut EP, “YES”.
Whether it’s working on his side project ‘Ides’ with longtime friend Ewox, or growing his own discography, Matheny is continuously breaking barriers and expectations with his music. This underground artist is soon to be a leader in the experimental bass scene.
