Mathias Schaffhäuser has been on the techno, house and minimal scene since 1994, when his first EP was released - and has been known for his wide stylistic range ever since. In October 2024, he released his 10th solo album SINGING ABOUT IT on the Cologne record label GMO with a stylistic shift towards indie/art-pop songs, carried by his voice, which has often been compared to those of David Bowie, Bryan Ferry and Scott Walker. On October 10, 2025, Mathias' project FANATICO X together with New Yorkian singer/songwriter Jorge Socarrás released its 3rd album BENEATH YOUR FEET with a beautiful cover version of WHITE RABBIT.

Other releases from Mathias appeared on Compost, Kompakt, Force Inc., Third Ear and BluFin Records. In 1997 he started WARE, releasing 104 EPs until today. His album LIDO HOTEL with the well known track NICE TO MEET YOU, released in 2000, marked his breakthrough in the techno scene. 2001 saw his international club hit HEY LITTLE GIRL, in April 2005 he released his album COINCIDANCE, its title track successfully remixed by Trentemøller. He also produced remixes for Steve Bug (Lover Boy), Luomo (Tessio), Faust, [A]pendics.Shuffle, Goldfrapp, Pan-Pot, Indoor Life, Northern Lite, Dapayk & Padberg – to name a few.
