Matteo Savastano started studying music at a very young age and graduated in piano with honors at the Conservatoire of Benevento. As a solo pianist, he performed extensively in concerts, appeared on Vatican Radio, and won prizes in both national and international competitions.
Passionate about composition, he also graduated with honors under M° Giancarlo Turaccio at the Conservatoire of Salerno. Afterwards, he was admitted to the University of Bristol (UK), where he obtained a Master of Arts degree in Composition of Music for Film and Television in 2016.
Back in Italy, he composed music for documentaries, short films, and web series, collaborating with The Red Penguin Productions, Nikada Film, and the film company Just Maria. At the 2018 Militello International Film Festival, Maestro Paolo Buonvino awarded him the Best Score Award for his original composition Je ne veux pas mourir.
In 2019, Matteo served as adjudicator for the international music contest “Performance Challenge” held in Launceston (Australia). Recently, he has devoted himself to composing neoclassical music, and some of his pieces have been included in the St Cecilia Examinations Pianoforte Syllabus.
In 2022, he joined Trinity College London’s mission as an examiner of classical and jazz music. In 2024, he taught Harmony, Music Theory, and Analysis at the L. Perosi Conservatory in Campobasso, and in 2025 he taught Music Theory, Rhythm, and Ear Training at the G. Rossini Conservatory in Pesaro.
