London-based musician Max RM began releasing his solo work in 2020, having spent the preceding years writing and playing in bands, studying music at university and composing for film/tv.
His songs explore universal themes such as love, loss, hope and angst. He records at home using piano, guitar, harmonium, bass and percussion. His influences include John Martyn, Gillian Welch, Elliott Smith, Big Thief, Phoebe Bridgers and Andy Shauf.
“Emerald” is the latest single to be released. It was written and recorded during lockdown and features backing vocals by Liz Dearsley and remote mixing by Oli Deakin (Lowpines):
“The song is about coming to terms with the end of a whirlwind romance. I wanted to capture a sense of the bewilderment in the aftermath of a breakup and to depict the fragile nature of relationships.”
Max RM continues to write and record new material which will be released throughout 2021.
