Meadowlark is Rick Cyge (fingerstyle guitar and mandolin) and flautist Lynn Trombetta. The piano was Cyge's first instrument. He later perfected his guitar technique in the folk scene around Boston. His key inspiration on the guitar (especially his use of open tuning) was the Algerian-born French guitarist Pierre Bensusan. Cyge met flautist Lynn Trombetta in Arizona in 1991, and they began performing regularly together as Meadowlark in 1993. Cyge’s original compositions offer a vibrant, colorful mix of original, world-influenced music on flute, Irish whistles, violin, mandolin and guitar. This uplifting, instrumental voyage inspired by the beauty of natural places melds influences as diverse as Celtic, African, and Mediterranean traditions.
