Danish-Korean Meejah merges Nordic Melancholia and Korean ancestry. The band recorded a KEXP Live Session during the Lunar New Year in Seattle 2024. In summer 2023 Meejah played their first South Korean tour and The Korea Times wrote a portrait article: “Danish-Korean band Meejah explores transnational roots”

Meejah takes influences from experimental, post-rock, post-metal, gritty triphop, ethereal noise, tibetan bells and singing bowls, Korean pansori singing and shoegaze.

Members: Mai Soon Young Øvlisen, Daniel Nayberg and Andreas Isbrandt Løvenskjold. Live members: Asger Sørensen and Emil Lake.

Their debut album Queen of Spring is a cycle through the 8 trigrams in Korean philosophy:
Heaven ☰ Thunder ☳ Mountain ☶ Earth ☷ Wind ☴ Fire ☲ Water ☵ Lake ☱

Queen of Spring is recorded in BlipBlop Studio in Roskilde and produced by the band with final mixes by Lille Høg, Magnus Lindberg, Rune Borup and Jens Ladekarl Thomsen. Master by Magnus Lindberg in VRTKL Studio in Stockholm.

Meejah has played G! festival, Spot Festival, A Colossal Weekend and was nominated for the Danish Music Critics Award Steppeulven in 2022.

Their album is released on Soon Records in Copenhagen and distributed through Tutl Records in Tórshavn and Poclanos in South Korea.
