Welsh indie veterans Melys have built a cult following with their melodic, atmospheric sound. Formed in Betws-y-Coed in 1997, they’ve released four studio albums and a European ‘Best Of’ while earning six indie chart top 10s and a No. 1 on John Peel’s Festive 50 in 2001. Their close ties with Peel led to 11 BBC Radio 1 sessions—more than any other Welsh band—spanning his show and later Huw Stephens'.
After a hiatus, Melys returned with bassist Iwan Evans and guitarist Aaron Watkinson, completing UK tours with The Wedding Present and performing at Rockaway Beach as well as Other Voices 2025. Now, they’re set to release their first new album in over a decade, following a recent live mini album. With fresh material and a UK tour planned, Melys continue to captivate both old and new fans.
