A black metal band with dissonant and doom metal influences; lyrics, mainly in English and partly in Turkish, revolve from pessimism and psychosis to ambition, power and self-righteous nobility, and last but not least, bad romance and regret. As in all anti-religious metal bands, Merhum lyrically presents a stand against not only religion, but also all other kinds of doctrines that harbor injustice and inequity. Although the lyrics bear no apparent or striking conceptuality, certain songs are referenced and linked to each other with a vague and asymmetric storyline.
