The Mighty Diamonds are arguably the most internationally renowned reggae group to emerge from the 1970s roots era.

Their story began in December1969 on 19th Street Trench Town, Jamaica, where Donald “Tabby” Shaw, Lloyd “Judge” Ferguson and Fitzroy “Bunny” Simpson formed decided to for a trio harmony a group. They originally called themselves the Limelight but after Shaw's mother started referring to the stellar group as "the Diamonds." the group to Mighty Diamonds

The Jamaican harmony trio are known for their Rastafari- infused tracks including “I Need a Roof,” “Poor Marcus” “Africa,” and “Right Time.”
Whether they are singing sweet lovers rock or protest anthems, the Mighty Diamonds bring a distinct soulfulness to their music that resonates in their recordings and live performances.

The Mighty Diamonds’ debut album, “Right Time,” still stands as one of roots reggae's all-time classics and their original song "Pass The Kouchie" became a transgenerational, international anthem after the British reggae group Musical Youth re-recorded it as ”Pass the Dutchie” in 1981.
