Born in Lisbon, 1971, Mike Campos started composing for all kinds of formations since his Conservatoire days. His musical experiences evolved through 4 years in London, UK and 3 years in Canada.
Even though he is classically educated, his musical experience drifted across many genres like rock & roll, electronic, jazz and blues and his search for a career also took him to film scoring, full orchestral arrangement and some electronic acts. His artistic identity should not be separate from the visual arts, which play an important part on his creative mind.
Mike is mainly a guitarist who moved into the piano and electronic resources as composition tools as well. His major areas of experimentation involve piano preparation and timbre alterations, ambient designing and modular synthesis.
Mike is working on a two-faceted neoclassical/electronic work called “Time Prints”, which makes a connection between carefully tailored felt pianos and strings, and electronic explorations.
