The embryo of what would become Misery Oath began in the early 1990s. Several members played in Gothenburg metal bands that shared stages with acts such as Dissection, At the Gates, Dark Tranquillity and Grotesque. This would later put Gothenburg on the map with the "Gothenburg sound.”
Many decades later in 2020 Misery Oath was launched.
During 2022, Misery Oath played several live shows around Sweden. Their music has been described as dark melodic death metal, with a hint of “the Gothenburg sound” and a profound layer of Nordic melancholy. Their debut album "A Darker Path" was released in 2023.
The band embarked on a European tour in 2024 along with companions Creeping Flesh, further sharpening Misery Oath’s powerful live performance before their triumphant return to Wacken Open Air 2024.
In winter and spring 2025 Misery Oath aims to release three singles while continuing to work on an upcoming full-length album, as well as bringing their liveshow to more stages around Europe.
